Wedding of Kastelruth” in January and other parades in summer, the traditional costumes, which are among the most beautiful ones in South Tyrol, are proudly worn.
Annual Events
Every year in June thousands of fans will come to Kastelruth-Castelrotto
to assist to the Open-Air Concert of the famous music group Kastelruther Spatzen, who are the Stars of Folk-Music.
In October there is another very popular Concert of the Kastelruther Spatzen. The concert will be organized in an enormous tent.put up for that occasion in Kastelruth and will last three days long.
Kastelruth Farmer’s Wedding
Every year in January the village of Kastelrugh wants to remember and keep up the tradition of the “Farmer’s Wedding” as they used to celebrate it in the old days. On that occasion several horsedrawn carriages glide through the snow from St. Valentin to Kastelruth.
The Weddingguests are all dressed in the traditional costumes – The event is well worth seeing.
Religious Processions
The Religious Processions are some of the biggest and most impressive events
that Kastelruth offers throughout the year. They are held at the occasion of Corpus Christi, Peter’s and Paul’s Day in June and Thanksgiving in October.
The Horse-Ride of Oswald von Wolkenstein
In June there is another Highlight in Kastelruth, beside the “Spatzenfest”, it’s the traditional Ride of Oswald von Wolkenstein. This Event includes and casts a spell over the whole Schlerngebiet-Sciliar Region. Horseriders fight doggedly in a team for the victory and are encouraged by thousands of enthusiastic spectators. Suspense, action, athletic achivement and lots of fun are waiting for the spectators.
Christoph has participated at the Ride many times (15 x) and in 1995 he and his team St. Valentin II were the winners. |
